液金会毁掉我们的 PC 吗:der8auer 的科学分析与两年实测
Is Liquid Metal Killing Our PCs? Scientific Analysis and a 2-Year Test [video]

Never skip science class with der8auer.
i know there are some graphene vs liquid metal vs ptm videos, but i want der8auer take on that...cause i know he will enter few more levels deep in that rabbit hole ... with all that equipment, turbo microscopes, time machines and atomic cnc's ;) cheers
this is very educational cannot find elsewhere
13:04 Nickel Gallium 5 ftw
The combination of materials to change their melting point is called eutectic! That is your chemistry fun fact of the day. Honestly the gaskets failing has been shown to be a problem on liquid metal laptops. I tend to prefer longevity and ease of maintenance on my machines, so I avoid liquid metal.
13:05 gosh, I love science
All GPU repair businesses say YES.
definitely looking forward to the new graphene pads ... thanks roman !
Dude, I just admire your level of dedication and precision
I usually only polish the staining to make it smooth while trying to leave as much as possible to keep that barrier layer, so that the new LM won't dry out as much and I don't just keep losing copper in my coldplate
Professional class, Der8auer! Keep it up!
ho you're working on a new cryosheet Can't wait ! I'm using one for my GPU and one for my CPU to avoid having to disassemble my rigid tubing water cooling loop and it has been working great so far :D
Yeah I'll just stick with the kryosheet lol
Even the current graphene pads were enough for me to just ditch everything and put it on both of my CPU and GPU. Never been happier, no pump out and zero maintenance. And temps were good enough.
Brasso works as well, also toothpaste.
Your dedication to this constantly evolving landscape is phenomenal. Your knowledge is appreciated. Thank you for helping advance thermal ideas in computing applications across the board. A true legend.
I really appreciate you explaining what's happening. Also love that explanation of why your polishing paste is better than others for this task. Having an additive explicitly to deal with removing this particular material does make it a better choice!
Super informative and professionally compiled video. Learned a lot about LM this way. tysm!
as an engineer this is always awesome to be able to describe perfectly what is happening in real life even better down to the molecular level. I bet your competitor are dreaming to get your knowledge on nickel coating and liquid metal.
But still using LM for many years for its performance unmatchable by anything else while OCing a lot especially with water cooling which is able to remove the transferred heat fast enough this an awesome combo.
both 4080 and 14900K are very cool <60°C for the 4080 running at 3.1GHz and <80°C for the 14900K at 6GHz all P cores with direct die cooling and <30°C water temp in summer.
Not sure that the layer created with LM and nickel is so problematic as it much thinner than the LM layer so yes it worsen a bit but not at all by the same amount tbh.
great vid, thanks Roman
